Frequently Asked Questions
What is demand response?
During periods of high electricity demand, your utility asks enrolled households to temporarily reduce energy use. Your smart thermostat makes small, short-lived adjustments to your HVAC settings automatically.
In return, you earn rewards. This helps prevent blackouts and keeps energy costs down for everyone.
Which thermostats are supported?
Any Trane or American Standard smart thermostat connected to your Trane Home account, including the ComfortLink line.
See Trane's full compatibility list or open the Trane Home app to check your device.
Who is Strobe Power?
Strobe is a demand response aggregator that helps homeowners earn money from their smart thermostats. Learn more
Strobe and Trane have partnered to enroll Trane thermostats in energy reduction programs run by utilities and grid operators.
These programs save you money and help keep your local power grid reliable.
What happens during an energy event?
Your thermostat adjusts by a few degrees for a short period during times of high demand. Your home is pre-conditioned beforehand to minimize any impact. You'll receive a notification through your thermostat app, and you can override your thermostat settings at any time.
Will I notice a difference?
Most participants don't. Adjustments are small (a few degrees) and temporary. Your comfort is the priority, and the program is designed to work around your existing settings.
